Dilip Ghosh slams Mamata's Govt, defends himself against controversies and talks Bengal’s issues

Former BJP MP and leader Dilip Ghosh addressed multiple controversies surrounding his actions during a morning walk at New Town Eco Park on Thursday. Ghosh responded to accusations of his involvement in various disputes, stating, "I am an ordinary person. I eat, sleep, and go for a morning walk." He dismissed claims that he had caused any controversy, emphasizing that certain individuals were attempting to drag him into public debates for attention. He further added, "If I go to buy a cleaver to cut coconuts at home, many polite people get scared about it. Some say it's a 'Ram's cleaver.' They haven’t seen a Ram's cleaver yet."

Ghosh also criticized the West Bengal government for its handling of administrative matters. He pointed to the necessity of obtaining High Court approval for every BJP initiative in the state, a process he described as being hindered by the state’s police and administration. "The police and administration are incompetent and impotent," Ghosh remarked, adding that Mamata Banerjee's government had failed to address these issues, thus delaying the implementation of programs and initiatives.

In addition to administrative concerns, Ghosh raised alarms about the healthcare system in Bengal. Referring to the central government's Ayushman Bharat scheme, Ghosh underscored the significant improvements brought by the program to the nation’s healthcare sector. He expressed frustration that the West Bengal government had refused to collaborate on the scheme, citing how it had hindered access to essential medical services for the people of Bengal. Ghosh further stated, "The state has to contribute 40% of the funds, but the state refuses because the center’s name is on it. What sin have the people of West Bengal committed by voting for you?"

Ghosh also addressed the issue of religious processions and the police's warning about possible violence during the Ram Navami celebrations. He criticized the state for warning of attacks in 43 locations, asking how the police had gathered this information. "How did they know about the 43 places? Why didn’t they inform the state?" he asked. He called for greater freedom for Hindu organizations to conduct their religious activities without police interference and encouraged supporters to participate in rallies and processions. He suggested that if any obstruction occurred, the police stations should be surrounded.

On the topic of law and order, Ghosh emphasized the importance of tradition, asserting that he would carry weapons as part of his cultural heritage. "I will stay in Kharagpur and go out with a weapon. This is our tradition," he said, referencing historical precedents where such actions had been taken against foreign rule. He strongly criticized attempts to suppress these traditional practices, asserting that those who tried to stop them would be dealt with accordingly.

Finally, Ghosh addressed ongoing tensions in the state, particularly in the Bhatpara area. Referring to recent reports of bombings and shootings near BJP leader Arjun Singh’s house, Ghosh downplayed the incident, claiming it was not significant news. "If no shooting happens, it’s news," he remarked. He also commented on the living conditions in Barrackpore, expressing sympathy for the poor residents and emphasizing their right to live peacefully without being subjected to violence.
